Twenty Years Young, The Gibson SG Guitar Controller Returns to the Stage, with Pre-Orders Available NOW!

Livermore, CA – November 20, 2025 – CRKD™, the premium collectible gaming brand, announced today the monumental return of a true legend, with the Gibson SG Guitar Controller performing an encore for the ages, twenty years after it rocked the world during the PlayStation®2 console generation.
Expected to ship December 2025, and with pre-orders open now, the Gibson SG Guitar Controller has been fully reimagined for modern gamers, every inch a faithful reproduction of the style icon which started it all, and celebrating two decades of riffs, whammy solos and weekend-long marathons rocking out with your family and friends.
Just like in 2005, the new black Gibson SG Guitar Controller can be used on PlayStation® consoles and is honouring, yet building upon the legacy of the rock ‘n’ roll original. Built for the modern rhythm gamer, it’s officially licensed for PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4 consoles and ready for Fortnite® Festival and Rock Band 4 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles, and community rhythm games such as YARG and Clone Hero on PC and PC Handhelds. Classic Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles are also supported through a dedicated Legacy Mode.
Complete with a stacked set-list-of-features, the Gibson SG Guitar Controller takes full advantage of two decades of gaming hardware evolution, presenting a new generation of Guitar Controllers, engineered for the modern gamer.
Designed and engineered by many of the original RedOctane team behind the legendary Guitar Hero™ guitar controllers, the Gibson SG Guitar Controller is more than a controller, it’s a celebration, presenting a perfect harmony of heritage and innovation. Instantly recognisable, the controller sports a matte black body with an integrated matte white pickguard.
The Gibson SG features the CRKD proprietary Hall Effect Strum Bar, delivering an ultra-precise input and a satisfying mechanical click feedback with every strum. Designed for peak performance, the technology ensures consistent accuracy through even the most demanding solos—so missed notes are no longer the controller’s fault!
Completing the design is the brown OG-style Fret Neck, featuring mechanical frets and a Crown Inlay graphic proudly displayed on the headstock.
The Gibson SG Guitar Controller features the signature CRKD 8-action button navigation hub, complete with left and right analog sticks and a discreetly placed D-Pad on the back of the headstock, providing seamless menu navigation and additional functionality. Discrete Platform Slider allows gamers to quickly toggle between PS5™, PS4™, Legacy Mode and PC Mode, and the Hall effect Whammy Bar won’t let gamers down in those crucially timed activations!
Through the CRKD App (CTRL), players can unlock a wide range of customization options and features, including button remapping, strum bar sensitivity adjustment, tilt activation settings, and firmware updates. The app also allows owners to register their product as part of the True Collection System, adding it to their personal library of CRKD collectibles with a unique product number and rarity rank.
Commenting on the new Gibson SG Guitar Controller, Head of Product Design at CRKD and former RedOctane designer, Stephen Withers, stated, “Many rhythm music fans hold a special place in their hearts for the original Gibson SG Controller, and all of us at CRKD are honoured to be reintroducing the iconic classic to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original. Working alongside Gibson, we have included a host of advanced features and design choices, all centred around delivering a vastly more accurate, innovative controller which we believe fans old and new alike will adore.
