Development of the all-new controller range started when an independent hardware creator and DIY enthusiast named Jinjiang set himself a challenge to design a better mobile gaming controller. Jinjiang, hailing from Guiyang, China, grew frustrated with scores of poorly designed, flimsy mobile controllers, unable to find a solution which came close to replicating a console-quality experience for his mobile device. Refusing to compromise, Jinjiang leveraged his family’s impressive background in advanced engineering, teaching himself electronics, product design and 3D modelling, all in the quest to create an ultra-slim mobile controller. The internet soon caught fire with his journey resulting in over three million views on Jinjiang’s videos, drawing the attention of the design team at abxylute. Both had a similar philosophy in product design, and with the core concept based around a discrete sliding structure, powerful island-sized magnetic phone mount and a fully featured control scheme, a partnership was forged, and a collaboration began, resulting in today’s Kickstarter launch of the M6 and M5 Mobile Controllers.
Both the M5 and M6 Mobile Controllers are compatible with a variety of gaming platforms. Xinput Mode is ideal for use with Android® mobile games, cloud and remote play, NS Mode mimics the control scheme found on the Nintendo® Switch™ console, and PS Mode is perfect for iPhone® games or replicating the classic PlayStation® control layout.
The M6 Mobile Controller offers a full-fat console-like gaming experience, ideal for the serious mobile gamer who refuses to forgo an extensive feature list, typically found on a home based controller. Sliding into action, the M6 features a dual-sided supported damped slide rail, facilitating silky-smooth operation, and gamers can opt for the connectivity that suits them best: advanced Bluetooth® 5.3 providing a convenient wireless connection, or wired via USB-C to guarantee against interference or lag.
Providing precision that players can trust, the M6 features compact Capacitive Thumbsticks, banishing stick-drift forever, and with a 20° range for Thumbstick movement, the M6 offers a superior range of movement compared to many rival console controllers. Continuing the drive for quality, the integrated Linear Triggers feature Hair Trigger Mode, providing smooth, consistent control and with Hair Trigger Mode enabled, gamers can enjoy shorter travel for instant actuation and quicker in-game response.
Customization continues on the M6 with a custom Z Button located on the face of the controller. Defaulting to replicating the L3 button, the Z Button can be reassigned to R3 or indeed any action button the gamer chooses. In addition, the Z Button can also be used to program and launch a series of multi-step Macros, making the most complex of in-game actions available at the touch of a button.
The M6 Mobile Controller allows gamers to customize their rumble settings, offering four levels of adjustable Z-axis vibration, and for those playing motion-controlled software, the M6 features 6-Axis Gyro control for maximum game compatibility. Lastly, with a powerful 500mAh integrated battery, gamers can enjoy up to 10 hours of sustained gaming before needing to recharge.
For those demanding the slimmest of profiles and only the essential features required for a pure gaming experience, the M5 Mobile Controller is wired for speed and comfort. Prioritising a slim, lightweight form factor, and a highly pocketable design, the M5 measures just 8.5mm thick in its slimmest section, the perfect travel companion for your phone. Serious in its intent, the M5 drops a wireless connection and focuses solely on USB-C, providing ultra low latency, no pairing, no interference and no battery to charge.
The M5 features low-profile, gliding style Thumbsticks, retaining its signature slim design and still providing console level precision, even including integrated LS / RS buttons with a satisfying click. In addition, a powerful z-axis linear motor adds immersive vibration technology for use with compatible titles. High quality Tactile Switch Triggers are also onboard, offering precise, durable response.
